Concrete Foundations in St. George

A foundation is where a build is won or lost. For over 25 years we've poured footings, stem walls, and slabs across St. George, and we've learned exactly how this desert ground moves. We dig it right, prep the base right, and size the steel for soil that swells and shrinks. Get the bottom right and everything above it holds. Call us for a free estimate.

What's included

Foundations, done the right way.

  • Excavation and grading dug to line and grade, so your footings sit on solid, undisturbed ground.
  • Base prep and compaction, with rock and fill placed and packed so the slab has something firm to bear on.
  • Rebar sized and tied for expansive desert soil, so the concrete moves as one piece instead of pulling apart.
  • Footings and stem walls poured to the right depth and thickness for the load they'll carry.
  • Control joints placed where they belong, so any cracking happens on your terms and not the soil's.

Why it matters here

Washington County soil is rocky and expansive. It swells when the monsoon rolls through and shrinks back under the summer heat, and a foundation that isn't built for that will heave, settle, and crack. That's why the work you never see matters most. When the excavation, the compaction, and the steel are done right, the ground can move all it wants and your slab stays flat and stays put. Cut corners down here and the desert finds them.

Good to know

Foundations questions, answered.

Do you work with builders or just homeowners?
Both. We pour foundations as the concrete sub for home builders and general contractors, and we work straight with folks building a custom home. Either way you'll get the same crew and the same prep. New construction is what we lead with.
Why does St. George soil need special attention?
The dirt out here is rocky and expansive, so it swells and shrinks with the seasons. If the base isn't compacted right and the rebar isn't sized for that movement, the foundation heaves and cracks over time. We build for how this ground actually behaves, not how flat land behaves somewhere else.
Can you keep the foundation from cracking?
No honest crew will tell you concrete never cracks. What we do is control it. With proper base prep, the right rebar, and control joints placed where they belong, we keep cracks small, straight, and where they don't hurt anything.
What does a foundation job include?
It depends on the build, but usually excavation and grading, base prep and compaction, forming, rebar, and the pour itself, whether that's footings and stem walls or a monolithic slab. We'll walk your site, talk through the plans, and give you a free estimate before anything starts.
